Mustafa Şahin

Partner

Mustafa Şahin graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law with high honors (as the fifth in the faculty). He has extensive expertise in various fields, including commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, capital markets, insurance, intellectual property, and trademark law.

He has provided consultancy services to multinational companies, including energy, insurance, banking, capital market institutions, private equity funds, tourism, fintech, crypto asset service providers, software and technology companies. He played an active role in many mergers and acquisitions; he has been involved in the preparation and negotiation of share transfers, shareholders agreements and joint venture agreements. In addition, he has conducted due diligence processes and gained experience in structuring commercial contracts.

He has provided consultancy in cross-border projects covering Europe and Asia, in project finance, privatization and venture capital investments. He provides strategic guidance on capital market regulatory compliance, portfolio management companies, brokerage firms, REITs and publicly traded companies.

He takes part in corporate processes such as general assemblies of companies, board of directors' transactions, share transfers and restructurings; and provides legal support to entrepreneurs and startups. In the field of energy law, he has provided consultancy on the review of contracts for power plant projects and regulatory compliance.

In addition, he has been involved in many financial technology-focused projects such as the establishment of crypto asset platforms, licensing processes and legal support to e-money/payment institutions. He also has extensive experience in lawsuits related to the protection of intellectual property and trademark rights and in dispute resolution processes.

Azat EKICI

Partner

Azat Ekici graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law with High Honors in 2015 and was admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association. Azat specializes in Dispute Resolution arising from Private Law, Enforcement Law, Tourism-Hotel Management Law, Labor Law, Lease Disputes, Intellectual Property Law, Real Estate and Zoning Law.

Azat completed his master's degree in Intellectual Property and wrote his master's thesis book titled "The concept of authorship within the scope of the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works". He follows the litigation processes with his academic knowledge in disputes arising from Intellectual Property Law. Azat also works as a mediator registered with the Mediation Department.

With nearly 10 years of experience in Dispute Resolution and Enforcement Law, he provides consultancy on all matters related to debt collection in particular, and conducts a large number of debt lawsuits. He follows up on all lawsuits to be filed during the execution of debt lawsuits. Azat leads the team in determining the strategy and policy to be followed in comprehensive and complex tasks in Dispute Resolution and negotiates settlement agreements.

He provides consultancy in the field of private law and manages a large number of commercial dispute processes with his extensive experience in consultancy and litigation, especially in taking precautionary measures and precautionary attachments and implementing these decisions, as well as debt lawsuits.

Dr. Paslı is a lawyer registered with the Istanbul Bar Association. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1999 "with honors" and received his master's, doctorate, and professorship degrees from the same school. Dr. Paslı has been teaching commercial law, competition law, and capital market law at Istanbul University Faculty of Law since 2000; he is an expert especially in the fields of corporate and intellectual property law. He is also the head of the European Union Law department. He is also the head of the European Law Research and Application Center, which was established in 1973 under the same university.

Dr. Paslı has been working as an expert witness in the International Chamber of Commerce and Turkish courts for approximately 20 years. Dr. Paslı provides legal consultancy to various large companies such as Migros, Türk Telekom, Qua Granite, Bien Yapı, Çelebi Holding, Turkish Airlines, Mercedes-Benz, N11, and Günaydın. He has significant expertise in the fields of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial disputes, compliance, competition law, capital market law, and intellectual property law, and has provided consultancy services in these areas to many Turkish and foreign clients.

Dr. Paslı, who has been working as an expert witness in both national and international judicial authorities for approximately 20 years, is the author of Turkey's first "corporate governance" book. In addition, Dr. Paslı has five commercial law books and dozens of scientific articles, and has received legal awards in this context.

Assoc. Prof. Selman DURSUN
Assoc. Prof. Selman DURSUN

Consultant

After graduating with honors (third in the faculty) from Istanbul University Faculty of Law, he completed his master's (thesis: "Offenses Against the Banking System in the Context of Economic Crimes and Banking Crimes") and doctoral (thesis: "Crimes Arising from Misrepresentation in the Capital Market") programs at the Public Law Department of the Institute of Social Sciences affiliated to the same University. He prepared a study titled "The Concept and Term of Action in Criminal Law with an Interdisciplinary Approach: A Comparative Study with German and English Literature" as his associate professorship monographic work. He was in Germany at different times to conduct scientific research for his doctoral and associate professorship studies. He has various publications in Turkish, German, and English in the fields of general provisions of criminal law, special provisions of criminal law, criminal procedure law, criminal enforcement law, economic criminal law, international criminal law, sports criminal law, and victimology.

Selman Dursun continues to serve as the Head of the Criminal Law Department at Istanbul University Faculty of Law.

Dr. Nihat Güman is a lawyer registered with the Istanbul Bar Association. He received his LL.B. degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1997, his LL.M. degree from the University of Nottingham in 1999, and his Ph.D. degree fromthe Institute of Social Sciences at Istanbul University in 2006.

Between 1999 and 2012, Dr. Güman served as a research assistant at the Departmentof Civil Procedure and Bankruptcy Law at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, wherehe was later appointed as a faculty member in 2007. During his tenure, he lectured on Civil Procedure Law and Bankruptcy Law, as well as courses on the Fundamentals of Law, Advocacy and Notary Law, Notification Law, Court Registry Legislation, andthe Collection of Public Receivables. He also served as a rapporteur member of theArbitration Board of the Turkish Football Federation.

From November 2012 to January 2024, Dr. Güman was a faculty member at Özyeğin University Faculty of Law, Department of Civil Procedure and Bankruptcy Law. During this period, he also taught graduate-level seminars on Sports Law. Alongsidehis academic career, Dr. Güman has been practicing law as a member of the IstanbulBar Association for more than 25 years.
